Music Therapy Ride hits the road August 29

Patrick Zulinov has seen the impact of music therapy up close. “Whether it’s a kid in the burn ward who just needs something uplifting or it’s seniors who could be suffering from Alzheimer’s, it works,” he said. He also recalled observing a spinal-injury patient at G.F. Strong Rehabilitation Centre who resisted treatment but “beat the hell out of some drums to get his anger out. They didn’t directly study the effects of music on pain but collated the results of 72 different studies that did. Levens dad-of-two to swim Windermere’s length for music therapy charity

A COMPANY boss is to swim the length of Windermere to raise money for the Sunbeams Music Trust.Steve Kitchen, of Levens, attends a monthly Sunbeams music therapy session at Sandgate School, Kendal, with his wife, Rachel, and their two young daughters. The 43-year-old told the Citizen that he wanted to give something back to ‘this amazing charity’, which delivers more than 70 live music workshops to 1,458 children and adults each month.
