PostHeaderIcon Grant boosts music therapy at The Gardens

The Gardens at Qualicum Beach is receiving a $10,000 grant from Music Heals for its music therapy program. The grant will provide four additional hours of music therapy programming this year and the Gardens will be able to purchase equipment and instruments to enhance its program. The Gardens at Qualicum Beach has been offering music therapy to complex care residents as a treatment while also providing them with an outlet for creativity and emotional expression. Having a notable family name hasn’t stopped Brian Blade from finding his own niche in the music industry. For as long as he can remember the jazz singer, songwriter, drummer and composer has loved music. Blade is the son of Dorothy and Brady Blade Sr., the pastor of Zion Baptist Church for more than 50 years, and the younger brother of Brady Blade Jr., a Grammy-winning drummer, composer and record producer.
