The Red Wing High School auditorium hosted a packed crowd Friday afternoon for the school’s annual music therapy concert. A choir and ensemble of around 20 special education students presented music and skits from the animated movie “Frozen.” At the conclusion, they bowed as hundreds of classmates and family members stood in ovation. Members of Wadebridge Choral Society raised £175 for Cornwall Music Therapy Trust with a Christmas carol concert in the town’s Tesco. The Trust was established in 2006 to oversee and help fund the development of and research into music therapy in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly. It supports those suffering from mental or physical illness or living with disabilities, emotional or behavioural problems. Read more here

Some people who lose their speech abilities due to stroke are still able to sing and participate in the survivor choir.

The Miracle Minstrels choir doesn’t always know when to start singing. They don’t do much by way of harmonies, and some are a little foggy on the words. The goal for these performers, most of them stroke survivors, is just to make a joyful noise. Read more here
