Music in the Gardens concert rescheduled for June 9

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Plan on meeting friends at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, June 9, at The Arboretum at Penn State for Music in the Gardens: Healing the Soul. Maryiah Winding is a rising senior at the School of the Art Institute from the South Side of Chicago with a big idea. She wants to develop a rap therapy program that would allow urban youth to grapple with their feelings and deal with trauma through hip hop and rap music. She’s an artist and musician, not a psychology major, but that hasn’t stopped her from taking steps to develop a rap therapy program. Read more here…

Faculty member sees annual special appointment to teach out music therapy majors

Anita Gadberry, a new full-time faculty member, has been hired on a year-to-year basis to teach students still enrolled in the UND music therapy program.The program stopped accepting new students in March as part of budget cuts at the university, a decision that was highly debated and protested by students, faculty and community members.
