PostHeaderIcon Stroke survivor chorus sings praises of music therapy

Choir member Gary Barmore of Elk Grove, right, and others perform during the annual Christmas luncheon that brings together stroke support groups throughout greater Sacramento area to celebrate the holidays with survivors and caregivers at Plates Cafe on Saturday. Some people who lose their speech abilities due to stroke are still able to sing and participate in the survivor choir.

The Miracle Minstrels choir doesn’t always know when to start singing. They don’t do much by way of harmonies, and some are a little foggy on the words. The goal for these performers, most of them stroke survivors, is just to make a joyful noise. Read more here
